Want to set yourself up for a successful week? Before you can do that you need to take a few minutes and wrap up the week that you are in. It only takes a few minutes but those minutes can let you leave the office with a clear head. And this will start the following week off on the right foot.
Yeah it’s Friday and you are watching the clock, your brain has given it’s all this week. You need the break. Unfortunately a client of yours just asks for something. Or you still need to finish a report. Honestly I know, it really never will end. But you must break from it and wrap up the week.
In 15 minutes or less you too can wrap your week up. This will help you to feel good about going into the weekend and will set your week up for success. Put it on your calendar and do it!
The steps are easy:
- Inbox zero – Process your inbox to zero. Don’t just read the emails and think you’re done actually process them. Think about what the next action is and input that into your productivity system.
- Review Monday’s Calendar – Plan ahead so you know what’s coming. I try never to have Monday meeting especially Monday morning meetings. But sometimes you have to meet on a Monday. If you do you have to meet you should finalize your agenda now and send it out to everyone. You should have been prepping for this meeting for the past few days so you shouldn’t have to come in over the weekend to finish up right?
- Email staff reminders – Hey now’s the time to remind everyone to enter their hours in your tracking software, clean up their desks or to do a weekly review. Also, if you are dependent on information from someone in order for you to perform a task next week remind them now.
I feel a sense of calm when I leave the office on Friday and you can too. This is so simple to implement but yet so effective. Try it!
How do you wrap your week up?
