Evernote is one of my core productivity apps. Now you can add a sketch to your notes on any iOS device. If I take handwritten notes I will snap a picture of them within the app. I can review those notes instantly and add a sketch or other handwritten notes to them.
Evernote continues to blur the lines between all digital and handwritten notes, a best of both world.
Evernote was always my digital file cabinet. Almost every piece of paper I have gets filed into Evernote. It was a repository for me and with my tag system it makes for a great filing cabinet.
Adding a sketch to scanned note opens up a lot of opportunities. Just last night I added a little sketch under a note. The note was a screen capture that I took.
I really like this ability and makes me more engaged with the note taking process within Evernote. Also this features really helps with the review process. Not only can you mark up an images but now I can hand write a quick note or make a quick sketch. Being a person that draws for a living you can see how useful this can be.
Here’s how you can make a sketch:
Click the pen icon in the menu.
Once you click it you will see this:
On the left you have a pen.
- You can change the tip size from 01,02,03,05,09
- You also pick 10 colors
Next over is a highlighter tool.
- You can change the size from 02, 04, 06, 08, 10
- You also pick 10 colors
The next tool is the eraser.
- You can also clear everything.
- There is no size adjustment.
The last tool is a “scissor”
- you move sections of notes with it.
We have finally caught up with the Android users who had this feature available over a year ago. Well it was worth the wait. But it does make me think that maybe the iOS platform has taken a back seat to Android in the minds of Evernote.
Let’s talk more about this on Twitter.
