Do you have trouble keeping track of what to read?

I’ll admit to having been a little overwhelmed by all the various sources of information available to us. Don’t get me wrong, I love it and wouldn’t change it but keeping it all organized was pretty challenging.

I have several blogs that I subscribe to, twitter articles that I want to read and not to mention the random great article that I want to read. Also, I love ebooks and Amazon kindle books.

I could easily spend all day reading. But I can’t and probably you can’t either. I had to do something about it.

Knowledge Empowers You

I developed a system to organize and keep track of all my reading material.

I have a few key apps that allow me to organize my reading material so I actually can get through it all. Each app does something different and offers features the others don’t.

For a while I was frustrated that I couldn’t get through all my reading material. Sometimes I didn’t even know where to look. I knew I had to design a system that what allow me to prioritize what to read and to actual help me to read.

Here’s what I use:

Feedly– This is my RSS feed reader. It works well and has a web app, iOS app and andriod.

Pocket – This is s a great app! It allows you to save articles and videos to view later. One of my favorite uses is to “save to pocket” twitter articles.

Evernote Web Clipper – Clip anything you want! I tag it with a @Read-Review tag so I can find it later.

Kindle App for iPad:– I have 3 collections set up on the app. To Read, Currently Reading, Maybe Read and Read – I find this setup handy since sometimes I read 2-3 boos at a time. You can also email eBooks the kindle app.

Once a day at a single sitting, I process all of the content in Feedly, Pocket and @Read-Review in Evernote. I also read a few pages at least 2-3 times per day from a book on the Kindle app.

If you stay on top of it a pretty easy system and allows you to capture a lot of material.

Anything really worthwhile gets tagged and saved in Evernote.

How do you organize your reading material? Let me know on Twitter.
