Be mindful – Here’s how.

Hal Elrod’s book The Miracle Morning left a pretty big impression on me. One part of the miracle morning I just could never figure out was a mindfulness practice.

mindfulness practice

Most of the top performer have some type of mindfulness practice and I knew I needed to incorporate something into my daily routine.

But I struggled!

I mean really struggled to find some type of daily mindfulness practice. The really odd part is it doesn’t take very long to do so why was it such a struggle for me…..

I needed something that was fast and easy to do. I also needed something that would guide me as I did it. I wanted something that I could track as I went along.

Here’s where I ended up at:

Calm – It’s an app and I started using it everyday. The sessions are short and it guides you through the sessions. It also keeps track of where I am and gives me a new session to do.

I also tried the following:

Oprah & Deepak – This might be the best out of all of them. I ended up not using because it takes a lot of time. Oprah starts off with a message then Deepak gets into the mediation session. I’m still just a beginner and while I can see how nice this is I just needed baby steps before I commit to this one. It’s also expensive. Worth it, in my opinion, but expensive. They do have free sessions sometimes so keep an eye out for them.

Headspace – This one is pretty good but you have to subscribe to it after the free trial. Also they seem to try and cover everything. I just need a simple mindfulness practice and while it might handy for some to have a session on relationships it wasn’t for me. But it might be for you, so check it out.

Transcendental Meditation – This is a proven technique that you should consider. It does cost money and is a signification investment. I should point out that it is a lifetime “membership” so to speak. Meaning you pay once and it’s good for life, you can get brush up courses whenever you need them. Also they offer accountability which doesn’t happen on a phone app.

Like any habit I start I try thinking of it as building a brick wall. The first few courses have to be plumb, level and stable. If they are not then the rest of the wall will be a mess.

I’m starting slow with something easy and will progress when I’m ready.
